January 7th, 2010Shawna ReedPrint This Post Print This Post

The current road conditions within the Indiana State Police Fort Wayne
District which includes Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, LaGrange,
Noble, Steuben, Wells and Whitley Counties, and within the Bremen Post, which includes Kosciusko, Marshall, St. Joseph and Elkhart counties are as follows:

*        U.S. and state highways are snow covered and slick.
*        Secondary roads (county roads) are snow covered and slick.

Troopers are currently working a number of crashes from the Allen/DeKalb County Line on I-69 to just south of Auburn. Motorists should be on the lookout for emergency vehicles and snow removal equipment. Give them plenty of room to work.
Locally, police are responding to a number of slide-offs and property damage crashes as vehicles slip and slide along snow-covered roads.
Motorists can access road conditions at www.trafficwise.in.gov or call
1-800-261-ROAD (7623).

*        Increase the following distance between vehicles, don’t
tailgate
*        Buckle up and do not text or talk on a cell phone while your
vehicle is in motion
*        MOVE OVER, SLOW DOWN when approaching emergency vehicles
