Tiger weekend sports updates

IHSAA WRESTLING REGIONAL
     Jarred Brooks won the 103-pound class and Paul Manbu won the 140-pound class in Saturday’s wrestling regional at Rochester. Both of these young men will now compete in the semi-state next Saturday at Merrillville.

IHSAA GIRLS SWIM SECTIONAL
     The Lady Tigers defended their sectional title on Saturday at Warsaw’s
Community Pool. Fourteen girls qualified for next weekend’s IHSAA state
championships at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.
     Warsaw won all three relays and Audrey Petro won the 50 yard freestyle race.
     Joining Petro next Friday and Saturday were Erica Gauger, Ava Donovan, Leah Moore, Jenna Moore, Julianne Divine, Sarah Hartle, Amy Wildman, Marisa Vogel, Claire Wack, Emily Hickerson, Kayla Hutcherson, Amanda Miller and Rachel Haller.

BOYS BASKETBALL
Varsity: WARSAW 79 MARION 68
JV: WARSAW 45 MARION 38
     The Tigers moved to 13-2 on the season with the win over the Giants
Saturday night at home. Nic Moore once again led the Tigers with 26 points while dishing out 10 assists. Justin Clemens pitched in 22 points while handing out 6 assists and grabbing 5 rebounds. Lucas Grose (10 points) and Jordyn Coon (11 points) also were in double figures.
     Grose once again led the rebounders with 6 boards. The JV win was led
by Brock Anson who scored 17 points. Rhett Kesler and Jay Holladay each
added 10 points while Jordan Wray hauled down 5 rebounds.
     The Tigers will face Plymouth this Thursday night in The Tiger Den.

FRESHMAN GIRLS BASKETBALL
Game 1: PLYMOUTH 32 WARSAW 31
Game 2: WARSAW 34 KOKOMO 27
     The Lady Tigers closed out their season with a third place finish in the
NLC freshman tourney at WCHS on Saturday. In game one, Bridget Engle
scored 12 points while Jordyn Walker added 9 points.
     In the win over Kokomo, Kaitlin Wiley led the effort with 14 points and Gabby Monroy scored 8 points.
     The freshmen ended up the season with an 8-11 record.

GYMNASTICS
     The Lady Tiger gymnasts did not make the trip to the Lakeland Invitational due to inclement weather conditions.
