From the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department
* The manager of Pak-a-Sak Shell station, 2535 E. U.S. 30, Warsaw, reported the theft of a gas-powered hedge trimmer and garden hose and garden reel from an outbuilding.
* At 7:35 p.m. Feb. 13, an officer patroling on SR 15 just north of Levi Lee Road observed a vehicle being operated without headlights. The officer initiated a traffic stop and found that the drive, Thomas D. Rensberger, 33, of Leesburg, was wanted on two warrants – one for probation violation and another for failure to appear. The officer also located methamphetamine in Rensberger’s truck so a charge of drug possession was added, and he faces another charge of operating while intoxicated.
* On Feb. 9, Monika Cook of Silver Lake reported an attempted fraud. Cook reported that an individual by the name of Bruce Baine contacted her via telephone identifying himself as an employee of a government agency. He demanded personal information from her and said it was for a criminal proceeding in Florida. She reportedly received several phone calls from the man, who provided a false address and nonworking telephone number.
