Warsaw Clerk-Treasurer Elaine Call and Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins

By Stacey Page

It was a 10-minute meeting at Warsaw’s City Council meeting Monday night. The only orders of business were the approval of minutes from February’s meeting, the acceptance of a Comcast franchise fee and the adoption of three resolutions authorizing newly elected city clerk-treasurer Lynne Christiansen as the agent for the city’s PERF accounts.
“And now for the real reason we held this meeting,” said Warsaw Mayor Ernie Wiggins. The mayor then presented current clerk-treasurer Elaine Call with a plaque commemorating her 25 years of “outstanding leadership” and for serving “with honor and gratitude.”
Call received a round of applause and hugs from all city councilmen present. She reiterated the words she spoke at the  Feb. 23 caucus that was held to name her replacement by telling the council, “You’re only as good as the people you work with.”
Call will officially resign from her office on Saturday, March 6. A reception in her honor will be held this Friday following with the Warsaw Board of Public Works and Safety, which begins in the city council chambers at 10:30 a.m.
