Online Voter Registration will become the newest addition to www.indianavoters.com and will allow Indiana residents to submit a voter registration application electronically to the appropriate county voter registration office.
“This is yet another exciting example of how our voting process is becoming simpler and more convenient by incorporating the tools and technologies Hoosiers use everyday,” said Indiana Secretary of State Todd Rokita, who serves as Indiana’s Chief Election Official and whose office has worked to develop the online voter registration application. “Giving our citizens access to an online registration tool also helps local election administrators better serve voters and should cut their costs, all while enhancing accessibility, accuracy and security.”

June 29th, 2010Stacey Page

A bicyclist who crashed while being pulled by a mo-ped earlier this month has died as a result of his injuries.
Gregory Templeton, 37, of Elkhart, was taken to Elkhart General Hospital after his bicycle fell over on CR 21, north of CR 2, at about 12:50 p.m. June 12. Templeton, who was not wearing a helmet, was treated for his head, arm and leg injuries and was released June 13. After returning to the hospital for treatment this past weekend, he died Monday.

State issues fish consumption advisory

June 29th, 2010Stacey Page

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health has issued the 2010 Indiana Fish Consumption Advisory.
In addition to fish consumption advisories for Indiana waters, the advisory includes information on the health benefits and risks of eating fish, suggested serving sizes, frequently asked questions, and what to do if you catch a fish in an unlisted waterbody.
“We have tried to include everything a person might want to know about eating sport-caught fish in Indiana,” said LaNetta Alexander, environmental epidemiologist at the Indiana State Department of Health. “The advisory is designed to give people advice on the types of fish that are best choices for you and how often they should be consumed. Since fish is a great alternate protein source, this guidance can help you avoid the possible accumulation of harmful contaminants in your body.”
Guidance on purchased fish is also included in the advisory.
