Home Helpers of Warsaw announces it will be offering automated medication dispensers in addition to its line of personal emergency response systems.
According to the Alliance for Health Reform, approximately 20 percent of seniors are using about 50 prescriptions each year. Keeping up with multiple medications can be a challenge, especially when certain medications need to be taken at specific times during the day.
Home Helper’s medication dispensers can help simplify medication management, thereby alleviating stress and maximizing the client’s independence.
The new units utilize user-friendly microchip technology to dispense multiple medications at preset times. Set by a digital alarm clock, the dispenser can be loaded with up to 28 doses of medication. It is then closed under lock and key. When the dose is ready, the alarm sounds and a red light flashes. If the dose is not taken, the Care Center will call to remind the client.
“With today’s longer life expectancies and scientific breakthroughs, doctors are simultaneously prescribing several medications, many of which are very time sensitive,” said Bob Hartwiger, owner of Home Helpers/Direct Link. “These medication dispensers alert our clients to take the proper medication at the appropriate times throughout the day, thereby alleviating much of the stress associated with managing multiple medications.”
Direct Link is affiliated with Home Helpers of Warsaw, specializing in non-medical and personal care and companionship for seniors, new mothers, those recovering from illness or injury and individuals facing lifelong challenges.
