Former major league ball play, Grace coach pens book

April 30th, 2010Stacey Page

By Zach Davidson

“That last trip to the locker room was tough. I had dreamed about the big career. I had imagined myself being able to take care of my parents who had sacrificed so much for me. My dream was dying, my world was crumbling, and my future looked empty. I had been released!” wrote Tom Roy, in his new book “Released,” after he was released from the San Francisco Giants in spring 1968.
“Released” chronicles Roy’s early formative years and a hard but fulfilling life after baseball, when he began a baseball ministry called Unlimited Potential Incorporated. Roy said “Released” is for all the full time staff of UPI who have been released from professional baseball, and the heartache of sin.
